Showzey Frequently Asked Questions

If you are like us, you share your photos with your friends and your family and they share theirs with you. And some of these friends may share their photos on Facebook while some others may do so using Flickr or MySapce. Still others may send you photos as email attachments to your Gmail or Yahoo Mail account.
How to keep track of all these photos? How get photos out of mailboxes? How to copy these photos to your favorite photo site? How to pass them to other friends or family members? How to make collection of photos from different photo sites?

We developed Showzey to solve the above problems. With Showzey, you will never miss or lose a memorable photo of your family and friends.
Showzey will also discover photos you maybe forgot about. While you may come across hundreds or even thousands of photographs, not everyone of them is going to be memorable. But then there are going to be those ones that you would think are memorable, and, may be sometime in the future, locate and view again. Showzey will help you to find and rember these photos.

Q: I have photographs on Facebook. All my friends also keep their photographs on Facebook. Why do I need Showzey?

A: For many of us, photographs provide a focus of our interaction with our friends. Showzey helps you browse all the photo-related activities of your friends in one place. You can browse all their photographs, tag them, write captions on them and more. And your activities on their photographs will be immediately communicated to them on Facebook. And all their activities will be communicated to you in a newsfeed (in an upcoming feature of Showzey).

Q. Some of my friends have their photographs on Facebook. Some other friends have their photographs on Flickr. Yet others have their photographs on Picasa. I also have some photographs in my Gmail account. These came as email attachments and links to on-line albums. How can Showzey help me?

A: Showzey can help you by giving you the one place from which you can interact with all your friends and their photographs. Using Showzey, connect to your Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, and Gmail accounts. If you do not have an account on one of these sites, just create a free account and add these friends as friends on the social networking sites. It’s not required that you have your own photographs on any one of these sites. Once you connect to these accounts, Showzey will collect all your photographs and your friends’ photographs, download your photo attachments and photo albums specified in links in the email messages.

Q: How about my privacy? Do you save on Showzey my user ids and passwords on all these other sites?

A: We respect your privacy and your need to feel secure. When you connect to one of the sites that support password-less authentication and authorization (Yahoo! Flickr and Facebook, for example), you login directly into those sites using your id and password on them. We have no access to your password. When you connect to Gmail which does not currently support passwordless authentication and authorization, (Gmail, for example), we use the id and password you provide to connect to account. We search for photo attachments and links to photo albums in your email and download them. You have the option of asking us to save your id and password in these cases for future use. However, you can choose not to allow us to save your password.

Q: Does Showzey save these photographs on its servers? Can I use Showzey as a backup to my photographs?

A: When the photographs are email attachments, you have the option of choosing to save your photographs on the Showzey servers. You can also choose to save these photographs on one of your social networking sites. When the photographs are from your social networking sites, some of them we might cache on our server temporarily. If you like, you can save them on your computer or copy them to other sites.

Please be aware of copyright restrictions on the photographs you access using Showzey. They are governed by the source site of the photographs.
